Writing Projects

I’ve not written much since completing the 2011 NanoWrimo Novel Writing Challenge in November. It was the first year I had attempted it (having heard about it too late the previous year), and I really learnt a lot about myself.

I’m a bit scared to dig out the massive word file with my 50,000 + words of ravings, so for now I’m going back to my Glasgow-based story featuring a girl obsessed with a dress. It becomes an obsession for various reasons, and is the first story that seemed to slot into my brain with a complete ‘beginning, middle, end’ structure. That’s never happened because I’m more a starter than a finisher. Ideas come and keep coming until I’m swamped with ideas, ideas that want to drown me in unfathomable endings. But not this one. This one has a structure so I need to build on that and make it come to life in the way it deserves to.

And then there’s that 50,000 words to worry about, another Glasgow-based story…
